What is Osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a gentle, non invasive form of manual therapy that focuses on the body's musculoskeletal system to find and treat the underlying cause of pain.

Osteopathy takes a holistic, whole-body approach to healthcare. It uses manual 'hands-on' techniques to improve circulation and correct altered biomechanics, without the use of drugs.

Osteopathic treatment  gently and safely eases the positioning of muscles and bones back into their proper alignment. Your body is then able to move more efficiently and effectively due to reduced muscular tension which also reduces the chance of motion related pain and injury.  Correcting the body's structural alignment improves its functioning allowing the body to self heal and self correct naturally.

There are many health benefits that can be achieved through osteopathic treatments. Such as muscle and joint pain relief, improved healing times after illness or injury, improved quality of sleep and sense of  well being.

During treatment, I look, listen and feel to piece together your unique personal health history. I put the information together like a puzzle, to find and treat the underlying cause of the problem instead of chasing the symptoms.

A key feature to maintaining your health is having good mobility.  Osteopathic treatments help to improve and maintain your joints and muscles healthy range of motion to help you to stay active, healthy and happy!

A little bit about me...

Hi, my name is Adrianne. I first discovered the healing power of osteopathy searching for a pain relief solution for my daughter Ava following her hockey injury. The osteopathic treatment was gentle and non invasive with amazing results! I was so impressed that I decided to attend the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy to study osteopathy myself.

I believe that everything in our body is interconnected. An injury can cause a ripple effect of symptoms throughout our entire body.  Proper body alignment improves health and mobility. We can take care of our health in many ways : by staying active, reducing stress, eating healthy foods and drinking lots of water.

Easier said than done, I know it!

Physical activity benefits our body and mind by helping manage our stress levels as well as our weight.

I am a life long resident of Smithville.  Growing up, I enjoyed playing on many different sports teams. My adventures and activities resulted in numerous injuries throughout the years, including concussions and migraine headaches. Osteopathic treatments have helped alleviate my pain and allowed me to get back to doing the things I enjoy.

In my free time, I love to be outdoors as much as possible! I enjoy gardening, hiking the Bruce Trail, reading, puzzles and spending time with my family and our Aussie, Jax.

Why Choose Osteopathy?

It can help with ...

May be improved by reducing muscular tension in the body and increasing activity of the parasympathetic nervous system.  Rest and digest.

Fatigue and Sleep

Calming the sympathetic nervous system with gentle rhythmic movements helps to encourage a resting and rebuilding state for the body.

Osteopathy can help speed the healing process. Ensuring proper alignment of the body will allow the blood to travel freely to and from where your body needs it most.

Improved Constitution and Vitality

An increased feeling of health and well being  as well as an increase in energy. Osteopathic manual treatments contribute a deposit into your "health" bank account.

Your improved quality of life will allow you to stay active and fully enjoy your daily activities.

Pain Management

Motion is important in life. Decreasing chronic pain and improving range of motion in our joints allows for better movement and health. Good circulation is important for reducing swelling and maintaining healthy tissues throughout the body.

Happens in all of our lives. An overactive sympathetic nervous system causes a fight, flight or freeze reaction. Cortisol is a natural hormone in the body but a surplus from stress can affect functioning of the immune system.

I was told that I needed glasses to help correct some muscular issues with my eyes. After a few osteopathic treatments, I felt great and my eyes self corrected. I didn't need glasses anymore!
